Career Move For Garbutt

Doncaster's Ian Garbutt has hung up his golf shoes after 16 years as a Tour Professional and now joins ISM's Player Management Team.

Garbutt, who has been a professional since 1992, became a scratch golfer at 16 years old and won the English Amateur Championship aged 18, beating Gary Evans in the Final.

As a professional he led the Challenge Tour Rankings in 1996 and then proceeded on to the European Tour where he enjoyed many top ten finishes, the most recent at the 2008 Joburg Open where he tied for 9th spot.

Andrew 'Chubby' Chandler, Managing Director said, "I'm really looking forward to Ian working with us and carrying on the trend of having professional advice for our players. It's always a tough decision to turn your back on playing but I'm sure Ian will fit in well with both players, sponsors and staff alike. He should be a very able understudy to Stuart Cage who has made the transition from golfer to businessman a great success in 2008"

Ian is very excited at this change of career, "I'm really looking forward to this new challenge. I haven't enjoyed my golf in the past year as much as I would have liked so hanging up my boots was not a massive decision. Having been with ISM for 16 years I know how they operate and I have always liked how I have been managed myself so when this opportunity arose to work for the best management company in the world it wasn't a difficult decision to make and I can't wait to get started", said Garbutt.
