Darren Clarke has never felt fitter or better about himself since he decided to change his ways and eating habits.

Darren Clarke had decided that the excess baggage he was carrying was doing nothing to help him realise his goals of winning golf’s greatest prizes… and this time he was determined to dedicate himself to getting fit rather than play at it.

He employed a personal trainer and set to work on a gruelling training schedule and a sensible diet.

People who had not seen the Ulsterman for more than a month were staggered by the change. Anybody who had not seen him for more than three months passed him without recognition.

Today Clarke tips the scales at no more than a slice of bread over 15st and has come to terms with his new frame and conditioning.” Even if I achieve everything I want to in the game - and I have many things I want to do - I will never go back to the way I was physically,” he says. “I do feel better about myself”.

Darren exercises about six times a week and if his start time is late he will train early in the morning and if he has a morning time he trains in the evening. He uses an exercise bike, treadmill and cross trainer and spends plenty of time doing a variety of exercises on the Swiss Ball as this is so great for core stability which is so vital in the golf swing.
