Down in the dumps

You may have heard I've had to withdraw from the Masters Tournament this week and to say I'm bitterly disappointed is somewhat of an understatement.
We started our holiday a few weeks ago at Abaco in the Bahamas and myself and Alison had a week together before the family came out to join us. We were all having a great time, my boys, Alison's boys, Davy and Andrea's boys larking about in true holiday fashion.
I was doing plenty of practising in readiness for the Valero Texas Open, who had moved heaven and earth to get me an invite to come and play, which was great as it would have been brilliant preparation before Augusta.
Everything was going according to plan until 11 days... MORE »

Hi there folks and happy 2013 to you all. I hope it's been a good start so far.
My year started down in South Africa for the Volvo Golf Champions at Durban Country club which was a great venue for the event where l played quite solidly after the holiday break. It was a great tournament put on by Volvo who put in such generous sponsorship on the European Tour.
The Ryder Cup captaincy was decided in Abu Dhabi and it was great to see Paul McGinley voted into office for Gleneagles. I think he'll be a fantastic captain, he loves the whole concept of the team thing and was a great captain in the Seve Trophy, has a lot of experience... MORE »

Hi there everyone - I thought it was about time to post a little pre-Christmas blog and let you all know what I've been up to!
October saw the launch of my autobiography, An Open Book, and I have to say I was pretty apprehensive when I embarked upon the first book signing session in London - was anyone going to turn up? Well, yes they most certainly did and I couldn't believe the amount of people that came along so my fears were put to one side and I really enjoyed meeting everyone that came along. The signing sessions in Belfast and Coleraine this week were packed out and thanks for coming along - was great to meet you all.

What a team

Well, what a week that was at Medinah! The result was nothing short of amazing and the team put on the show of a lifetime on Sunday. After having a 10 - 6 score line against us at the close of play on Saturday it was going to be an uphill struggle but the inspirational words and wholehearted belief of Jose Maria gave us the magical result we were looking for. Not to mention the guys wearing the iconic Navy Blue and White that a certain Seve Ballesteros made his own.
To win those first five matches was absolutely critical and the guys lower down the playing order fed off the earlier matches and that's how we won the... MORE »
Medinah bound

Hi all, once again apologies for the lack of communication recently but it's been a busy time with one thing and another! It was great teeing it up at Royal Lytham St Annes as defending champion for the Open Championship in July and obviously I was disappointed not to be there for the weekend. But the very well travelled Claret Jug was duly given back to be presented to the very worthy winner, Ernie Els, who put up a great performance. Then it was holiday time and Alison and myself, along with Tyrone and Conor, went off to our home at Abaco in the Bahamas where we spent a fabulous fortnight relaxing, fishing, practising golf, and generally having...
