Rory’s On The Record

And I will not be the least surprised if we have even more players in the melting pot come the weekend

Rory’s On The Record

What a first day for ISM at The Open as golf’s greatest championship celebrated its 150th anniversary.

Rory McIlroy led the way with a record breaking 63 and plenty of our other players were in a rush to make early claims for a place on the leaderboard.

Rory’s round was nothing short of sensational, the lowest in major championship history, and he looked completely in control of himself and his game.  His worst round at St.Andrews is 69 so if he keeps that record going then he will be very difficult to beat with the weather not expected to improve much

Louis Ooosthuizen, a product of the Ernie Els and Fancourt Foundation, was another to grab the attention of the headline writers as he went round the home of golf in just 65 shots.

And Steven Tiley had the Media Centre asking; “Who's he” after an opening 66.  Now they know.

With Lee Westwood among those on five under we had players in the first three positions.   It will be wonderful if we can keep it that way on Sunday.

And I will not be the least surprised if we have even more players in the melting pot come the weekend.  Happy days, but there’s a long way to go.
