Charity Begins at Home

The Darren Clarke Schools Golf League participants in Northern Ireland have raised a massive £12,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer this year - bringing their total to £43,000.

Gerry McStay, founder and co-ordinator of the League, travelled to Loch Lomond and together with Darren, presented the cheque to Pamela Walker, the representative from Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The League goes from strength to strength and even more schools have signed up for next year with over 60 schools scheduled to take part in 2011.  Darren was delighted with the efforts this year and again has contributed extra prizes to schools and pupils who make the extra effort with the fund raising including Taylormade putters all autographed and gloves and caps which the pupils all enjoy.

A big thanks to TaylorMade, Glenmuir and Ping and also the local golf clubs who so generously allow the children to use their facilities.
