The Final of the Darren Clarks Schools Golf Leage was played yesterday (9th June) at Roe Park Radisson, Limavady, and was won by the Coleraine Academical Institution Team.
They played against Holy Cross Strabane and the match result was tied at three and a half each, but victory went to Coleraine as they had won more holes in their respective matches - the total being four. The matches were played in great spirit and all the youngsters had a wonderful day of fun and competitive golf.
Next week there is a finals day at Banbridge next week where both teams and all section winners will join representatives from 20 other schools, and the winners will receive their medals and collect their trophy. This day takes the format of a shotgun scramble so should be lots of fun.
Also on this day the bulk of the monies raised for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity will be collected. In fact the team from St Clares Cavan deserve a special mention as they did not win a match but collected an amazing £600 for the charity.
So a big well done to all the teams involved who have played some great golf and done a fantastic amount of fundraising.
