Darren played in the UBS Hong Kong Open at Fanling Golf Club where he shot rounds of 69 67 67 and 67 to finish on ten under par and in a tie for 11th position. France's Gregory Bourdy took the title with a score of nineteen under par.

Darren finishes the 2009 at 61st in the inaugural Race To Dubai and misses out by just one place in the rankings for a spot in the Dubai World Championship next week where the top 60 qualify for the event.

“I've tried my heart out all week,” said Clarke. “I had a lot of chances coming in and burnt the edges but I am proud I went out this week and gave myself every chance.”
