On the Wednesday of the Open Championship at Turnberry Darren met up with Gerry McStay who organises the Darren Clarke Schools Golf League. Gerry presented Darren with cheques totalling almost £11,000. The total raised now is just over £31,000 which is a magnificent effort.

This year the league was won by Portadown College who defeated Rainey Endowed in the final. This league will be seriously hard to win next year as seven more schools in the Belfast area have committed for next year.

"It's great that so many schools take part and I really thank the kids for their efforts" said Clarke. All the monies raised go to the Darren Clarke Foundation and will be given to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
