Darren has sponsored the Schools Golf League in Ireland for five years and last week at The 3 Irish Open he was presented with a cheque for £5,000 by the children from St Patrick's High School Keady. In the past two years these children have raised over £20,000 which is a magnificent effort.
Neil McLelland a year 9 student, managed to raise just over £250 and for his fantastic effort Darren presented him with a TaylorMade putter. Last year Patrick Campbell raised over £1,000 and two youngsters from St Columbans Kilkeel raised over £2,000. They were all presented with TaylorMade Drivers by Darren.
These youngsters have invented some ingenious ways of raising money for the charity, including having a Golfathon at St Patricks Keady where they erected an inflatable driving net for the kids to hit balls into - the children call house to house and ask people for sponsorship and allow them to guess how many shots will be hit. They also have undertaken bag packs at local supermarkets, sponsored walks, sponsored silences, barbeques and sold Breast Cancer wristbands, pins and phonecharms.
So it's a big well done to all the children in the Darren Clarke Schools Golf League and if you would like more information please click here.
