Louis cashes in at Maybank

There was only one way to go for Louis Oosthuizen after his third at Houston and his second at The Masters.  And sure enough he completed the 3-2-1 with a wonderful win at the Maybank Malaysian Open.

Louis overcame jetlag and sleepless nights in Kuala Lumpur to record a three-shot win and an immediate bounce back from his Augusta disappointment.

I am convinced that there is nothing in golf which is beyond Louis because he has both the swing and the temperament to contend at the highest level for many years to come and that’s not just good news for him, but also his close friend Charl Schwartzel, a commendable sixth.

They have the friendliest of rivalries and it’s going to be good for both of them as they move forever forward and upward.

It wasn’t easy for either Louis or Charl because not only did they have to endure a 30-hour flight from Augusta the previous Monday, but also cope with extensive weather delays which meant a long last day with 26 holes of golf.

ISM players did us proud because apart from Louis and Charl, Romain Wattel was also in the top 10 while Jeev Milkha Singh was only just outside in 11th and Joost Luiten was also in the top 20.

We started the season very well and it’s continuing on the same track so we have every reason to face the summer with renewed optimism and confidence.

Louis may not have won the Masters, but he has already shown that he is a master golfer.
