Darren once again teamed up with Sir Ian Botham for their Celebrity Invitational golf event which was held at the stunning Archerfield Links near North Berwick in Scotland, where the weather was kind and the course was exceptional.
The generosity of the amateurs was overwhelming and the final tally of funds raised exceeded £400,000 to be split between the Darren Clarke Foundation, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Leukemia Resarch.
The two day event consisted of eighteen holes over the Fidra Links and eighteen holes over the Dirleton Links and was contested between amateur teams, celebrities and professionals. Darren won the professional individual event on a card play-off from Michael Hoey after they both finished on 76 points. Sir Ian was also in the prizes and helped his team of Johan Rupert, Stephen Tricky and Rob Hersov to victory in the team event.
On Monday evening there was a Race Night sponsored by Ladbrokes and a Gala Dinner and Presentation following the second days play where guests were entertained by Bananarama and dulcid tones of Tom Chaplin.
