Darren played in the Volvo Golf Champions at The Royal Golf Club in Bahrain where he finished in a tie for 8th after rounds of 69 65 67 73 left him on fourteen under par - Paul Casey taking the title on twenty under par.
Clarke is working on a putting tip from Ryder Cup Captain José Maria Olazábal and commented: "It's definitely been an awful lot better. Even the ones I miss have been quality strokes, which is a pleasant change. José Maria told me it would take a while".
This tournament was different to the regular tour events in that on Saturday the Volvo World Golf Challenge Finalists played in the tournament, with one amateur playing with two professionals in each group. The professionals played individual strokeplay format, while the amateurs played in a team competition with both professionals in their group forming their team. The best two scores of the three team members on each hole counted towards the team total.
Darren, along with Paul Casey guided their amateur partner, 3 handicapper Kevin Aherne to victory in the team side of the event on Saturday with both professionals winning a Volvo S60. "We had really good fun today with Kevin, our amateur partner, he really enjoyed it and both Paul and I played nicely, so, all in all, it was a very good day" said Clarke.
