Frustration in Dubai
Posted: 9th February 2010
Mum, Dad and my girlfriend were out in Dubai with me which was great and as I mentioned in my previous blog – the fishing was fantastic! I’m still revelling at the thought of that 9kg Queenfish I caught and it was great for Dad that he also got in on the action and caught one too – not as big as mine though.
I enjoyed the tournament week in Dubai but got extremely frustrated with my putter. On the 12th green on Saturday I missed yet another eight footer and I somehow managed to bend the shaft – the consequence of this was that I had to complete the rest of my round putting with my Lob Wedge – and in fact I think I putted better with it! To cap it all I managed to finish with two bogeys on Sunday which only added to a very frustrating week.
I’ve now arrived in India for the Avantha Masters and have the company of my lucky mascot - Louis ‘Three Chip’ Martin. India is certainly a very different country and really opens your eyes to the different cultures in the world today but I’m looking forward to the week and to sampling the local fare. Tonight I’m being joined by the short game wizard Louis, David Brookes, Finchy and possibly Howeller so with that auspicious company it should be a very entertaining evening.
The course we’re playing on this week, The DLF Club, isn’t the one I’ve previously played in India – it’s one that has been designed by Arnold Palmer so I’m really looking forward to playing it. I’ve got an early start tomorrow and play in the Pro-Am at 7am. My new putter is at the ready – I’ve gone back to the one that I started the year with and which does not have a bent shaft and I shall be endeavouring to keep it that way for the entire week.
