Barclays - Simply The Best

Posted: 4th November 2009

What a great place Singapore is.  Just a pity my golf didn’t quite match the standard of my setting, but it was a great week.

Who knows if things would have been different had I not caught the wrong side of the draw, but it was difficult keeping momentum when we were on and off the course so often because of the early November fireworks in the sky.

My scores didn’t quite match up to all the effort I put in and perhaps my week was summed up by the four iron from rough and  a downhill lie on the 72nd hole which somehow managed to leak right into water.   At least the shot gave my manager Chubby Chandler something to laugh about.  I’m just pleased I can make somebody happy.

There’s not a lot about Barclays I can say that I already haven’t, but once again they did a magnificent job as did Sentosa in setting up the course.   I know I’m biased, but Barclays are a delight to be connected to.  Bob Diamond put on a fantastic show which was excellently administered by Tim Peat and Patrick O’Riordan.  When you think of the best tournaments in the world you think of Barclays.

And talking about old friends leads me to Oliveiro, Wolfgang and Stephane from Audemars Piguet, the world’s finest watch makers.  They were all there at Sentosa and it was very good to catch up with them.

Now I’m off to Hong Kong for next week’s tournament where I will be hoping to cement my place in the Road To Dubai.  It’s touch and go, but I’ll be giving it my all as usual.
