Miami Nice

Darren ClarkeThe week in Miami for the CA Championship at Doral was more memorable for what happened off the course than on it.

The golf was pretty much as it has been for a while - I didn't play either that well or that badly, but there was one change.   I had a new caddy on the bag after a disagreement with my regular man Philip Morbey meant a parting of the ways.  I was very fortunate in that Mick Doran, formerly with Lee Westwood and Justin Rose among others, was able to step in temporarily although I'm still not sure what's going to happen long term.

The best part of Miami was the hotel.  The Delano on South Beach is an unbelievable place and I'm still not sure how I didn't replace all the pounds I have shed in the gym.

Equally enjoyable was the Tavistock Cup in Orlando where Joe Lewis was as generous a host as ever.  His Monday evening party had to be witnessed to be believed, but believe me it was incredible.

Unfortunately the Isleworth side I played for against Lake Nona lost the two-day competition although I won all my three matches against Ben Curtis and Mark McNulty (alongside Mark O'Meara) and then both singles against Erne Els and Mark McNulty again.   It was all great fun and innovative as well because all Isleworth supporters wore red and all Lake Nona followers donned blue.  Quite a spectacle.

Now I'm getting ready for my next sojourn across The Atlantic.  I'm heading for Houston next week and I'll let you know what happens.
